✅ Handle the cable with care.
✅ When pulling multiple cables, consider labeling them or using different cable colors to avoid confusion during termination.
✅ Prevent the cable from twisting. A spool helps keep it straight. Pulling a twisted cable can create knots or hidden damage inside a conduit.
Laying or pulling the cable
Carefully lay or pull the cable through the route. Use a spool when pulling. Avoid damage by twisting or pulling too hard (max. pulling force: 15 kg).
CAUTION: Always allow for extra cable length; you can shorten it later, but you can’t add more.

✅ For smooth passage, do not exceed a filling rate of 70% inside conduits.
✅ Use tape, a cable sock, a small tube or felt padding.
Using a protective tube or cable sock
Use a protective tube or cable sock wherever possible to prevent kinks or damage to the cable.
CAUTION: A kinked or damaged cable reduces light transmission and performance.
CUT AND PREPARE THE CABLE
STEP 1

✅ Keep the cutting edge straight and sharp to ensure the quality of the cut.
✅ Professional cutters need their blade cassette replaced after intensive use (around 1200 cuts).
✅ Disposable cutters may only last around 20 cuts before the blade becomes dull, leading to poor cuts.
Cutting the cable to size
Cut the cable to the desired length using a POF cutter. Make sure the cut is clean and straight (90 degrees) for maximum light transmission.

✅ The safest and recommended method is to use the (disposable) cutter to split the cores. Using fingernails is possible, but avoid knives or sharp tools.
Splitting the cores
Separate the two cores by approximately 4 cm. You now have a TX and an RX core. Pay close attention to the marking for identification.
CONNECT TO DEVICE
STEP 1

✅ Mount the device with the right bracket for the location. Connect the Wieland plug until you hear a click.
✅ A version with 4 Ethernet ports (without PoE) is available for wall-mounted solutions.
✅ To disconnect a Wieland plug, press the release clip with a screwdriver instead of pulling the cable.
✅ You can connect devices to the Wieland and easy lock ports while powered.
Mount device and connect power
Mount the device in the correct position and connect the power by inserting the Wieland plug into the device.
STEP 3

✅ Label cables when terminating multiple traces on a core switch to keep network documentation clear.
✅ Keep the port open with your finger while inserting the cable, as the easy lock tends to close automatically.
Correctly connect the cores
Identify TX and RX on both the cable and the device. Note one of the cable cores has a marking to distinguish TX from RX. Connect the cores and push the easy lock port back in to secure the cable.
CAUTION: when looking at the device, RX (return) is at the top of the left port and at the bottom of the right port. Always connect TX (transmit of cable) to RX (of port) and vice versa.
STEP 4
Complete and check
Connect the follow-up cable to the other end of the device. Check that the LED indicators on the device are lit – this means the connection is active.
TIP: Pay attention to the marking on one of the cable cores. Make sure it is always connected either at the top or the bottom of the ports so that installation is easy and error-free.
