  • What is the difference between installing a FiberUnlimited network and a standard UTP network?

    Thanks to its ring topology, the FiberUnlimited network requires far less cabling—up to 90% less. Connecting the POF cable to switches and modules is also much faster than attaching a regular RJ45 connector—up to 30 to 40 times faster.

    The POF cable is lighter and easier to handle, which further speeds up installation.

    Because labeling is largely unnecessary and network testing is mostly automated, total installation time can be up to four times shorter.

  • Can a FiberUnlimited network be integrated into an existing network?

    Yes. FiberUnlimited can be integrated into existing IT infrastructures. It can operate alongside conventional networks without issue, allowing for phased replacement or expansion without major modifications.

  • How do I manage the FiberUnlimited network?

    The network is managed via our cloud service, FiberUnlimited® Control. This platform provides insights into network status, performance, and configurations, making remote management and maintenance simple and efficient.

  • Do PoE products work on the FiberUnlimited network?

    Yes. Depending on the module used, the FiberUnlimited network supports Power over Ethernet up to 2×30 W (802.3at). This allows devices such as access points, sensors, and cameras to be powered directly through the same connection, without additional cabling.

  • What are the differences between a star topology and a ring topology?

    A conventional UTP network uses a star structure: each connection has a direct link to a central switch. This requires much more cabling (every point needs its own cable) and makes the network less flexible (a new cable must be pulled for each additional point).

    The FiberUnlimited network uses a ring topology, where all nodes are connected in one (or multiple) closed loops. This reduces cable use by up to 90% (the cable runs from node to node), makes expansion easier (a new node is simply inserted into the existing cable loop), and allows the system to self-heal in case of a fault.

  • Are there technical advantages to the FiberUnlimited network?

    Yes. The FiberUnlimited network is based on Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) and a smart ring topology. The optical connections ensure significantly lower latency (faster response) and make the network immune to external electromagnetic interference.

    The ring topology also makes the network more robust, as connections are automatically rerouted in case of a cable fault. This keeps network performance stable, even under heavy load.

  • What is the FiberUnlimited network?

    An indoor data network based on Polymer Optical Fiber (POF). It is a fully optical solution designed as a sustainable, flexible and future-proof alternative to traditional copper networks.

  • How does POF differ from traditional optical fiber?

    POF is more flexible, robust, and easier to install than traditional glass optical fiber. With its larger core diameter, POF is especially suited for shorter-distance indoor applications where glass fiber is often impractical.

  • What makes the FiberUnlimited network unique?

    The network operates on a ring topology rather than a traditional star network. Active components are connected in a loop, which reduces the number of cables, increases sustainability and labor efficiency, and ensures redundancy for all connections. If required, it can also be deployed in a star topology.

  • What are the advantages of using the FiberUnlimited network indoors?

  • What are the limitations of the FiberUnlimited network?

    Bandwidth is comparable to UTP Cat6 copper cabling but lower than glass optical fiber. Transmission distances are similar to UTP but shorter than glass optical fiber.

  • How is the POF cable installed and terminated?

    Installation follows familiar methods used for copper cabling, including routing through conduits or along surfaces. Thanks to its small 2.2 mm diameter, POF can often be placed in areas where UTP is difficult to install and can safely run alongside power cables in ducts, tubes or lighting systems. Termination is simple: the cable is cut cleanly and inserted directly into equipment connectors via the patented easy lock system, without the need for specialized tools or connectors.
