Interview with Niek van Geijn on the collaboration with FiberUnlimited at Melis Logistics
For the network installation in the new Melis Logistics facility in Duiven, FiberUnlimited worked closely with Van Geijn Automatisering. We spoke with Niek van Geijn, owner of Van Geijn Automatisering in Dieren, about his experience with the project and the use of Polymer Optical Fiber (POF).

How did you experience the collaboration with FiberUnlimited?
“Our team experienced the collaboration with FiberUnlimited as very positive,” says Niek. “Communication was proactive and clear, agreements were kept, and they actively contributed ideas throughout the project.”
He emphasizes how important that alignment was for the project’s success: “All of this contributed to a smooth process and a fast delivery. The short Teams meetings were especially useful to quickly align on where we stood.”
What do you think of the POF solution in general?
“The POF solution offers an innovative and accessible way to install networks quickly and securely,” says Niek. “Especially when combined with a lighting plan, this can be cost-saving compared to traditional cabling.”

He is also positive about the products themselves: “The products are user-friendly and work well in environments where traditional cabling is difficult to apply. The quality and stability of the connection are also very convincing.”
What is your view of the solution installed at Melis Logistics?
“The installation at our joint client Melis Logistics was carried out professionally and performs exactly as expected,” says Niek. “The solution matches the customer’s needs and shows that POF is a serious and reliable option for professional IT environments.”

What are the advantages and disadvantages of POF for you as an IT partner?
“POF offers clear advantages for us as an IT partner,” Niek explains. “The installation is fast and flexible and can be done without major renovations. The system is also safe because it uses light signals instead of electrical current, and it’s immune to electromagnetic interference. All of this contributes to a stable and reliable network connection.”
“Of course, there are a few points to consider,” he adds. “The distance you can bridge is more limited than with traditional fiber, but in most environments this is not an issue. And because the technology is still relatively unknown in the market, it sometimes requires a bit of extra explanation for customers. But that’s simply a matter of time and experience.”

Finally, would you work with FiberUnlimited again in the future?
“If a similar situation arises, it would certainly be a pleasure to work with FiberUnlimited again,” says Niek.
At FiberUnlimited, we greatly value our collaboration with Van Geijn Automatisering. It’s inspiring to see how mutual trust, short lines of communication, and a shared focus on quality lead to a successful project delivery. We look forward to continuing to develop innovative network solutions together that meet today’s reality and tomorrow’s needs.
